My dad does a ride every summer with his buddies. They've been all over the US and he's done it on his Harley and he's done it on a BMW K1200S. No matter what you ride, you're bound to get uncomfortable once in awhile. As long as you don't buy something ridiculous you'll be fine. Props to you if you actually follow through with this.
