About

My name is Alex Kniess and I’m currently living in Portland, OR trying to figure out how to change the world. I graduated from the University of Oregon in June, 2009 with a B.S. in Business Administration, a concentration in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Communication Studies.

I currently blog over at Advertising Age for their GenNext blog.

Two months before graduation I bought a motorcycle and started planning my greatest adventure yet: traveling the country on two wheels. After I graduated, I took off with a friend from high school with almost no idea where we were going to end up. I spent a month on the road, and chronicled it over at No Thru Traffic.

Now I’m looking to land  an incredible job that will allow me to grow and learn in a collaborative environment.

If I could do anything in life I would be a professional racecar driver or a traveling freelance photojournalist. Since both of these pursuits are probably a ways off, I’d like to spend the interim working in a creative environment where I can demonstrate my strategic prowess. To this end, I’ve worked at several great companies and have gained a broad range of experiences in design, ethnography, sports and event marketing, advertising, brand creation, consumer electronics, and social media and marketing.

Beyond these experiences, I have passions for photography, motorsports, traveling, camping, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and constantly learning as much as possible.

I try to keep a balance between living online and living in the real world. But while I’m pursuing the former, you may find me at the places linked on the right there =>
